A lot of bad things happened in 2016. However, on the eve of her 34th birthday, here is a story about one really amazing person, and one really amazing thing that happened to our little family. I’ve always known my wife, Amanda, to be a strong, beautiful, funny, determined person. Never have I seen that strength personified, and concentrated as much as the two times she’s delivered our children, naturally, in our home. It’s an incredible (and scary, and exhilarating, frustrating, and at times even boring) thing to witness, and I could have never ever done it had I been in her shoes. On July 19th, 2016, Amanda, myself, our midwife Michelle (who is amazing), and our doodle Lucy spent the whole day hanging around our house, yard, and birthing pool waiting for Piper to show up. Around 2:30, she finally showed her little face (literally), and our family was complete.
So, happy birthday to the most incredible person I know.
I feel like a very lucky guy.
